Transferring an active domain name involves switching the domain name registrar that handles the domain name registration service, so after the transfer itself, you will have to manage things like renewal fees or DNS record updates through the new domain registrar. The transfer process is standard with most universal and country-specific domain extensions. Some country-code extensions are more specific and involve different steps, but in the general case transferring a domain involves a few necessary procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain. The domain lock is a security option, which is being embraced by more and more domain registry organizations. It’s a standard feature supported by all gTLDs. If a domain is locked, it will not be possible to initiate a transfer procedure, so nobody can even attempt to steal your domain name. The lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain name is registered and all new domains that support this feature are locked by default the moment they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Hosting

Locking and unlocking a domain registered through us is remarkably easy. This can be accomplished through the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with our hosting plans, and will take exactly two clicks of the mouse. All your domains will be displayed alphabetically in the Domain Manager section of the Hepsia Control Panel and next to those whose extensions support the registrar lock option, you’ll notice a padlock-like sign. Click on it once and you will notice the domain name’s present status. Click for the second time and you will alter its status. The update will take effect momentarily without the need for you or for our company to do anything else for the status to be updated on WHOIS lookup websites, so you can continue with the transfer straight away.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

Administering your domain names with our company is exceptionally easy and the registrar lock option is not an exception. If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to manage the domains registered through us using the exact same Control Panel via which you’ll administer your hosting account. For your convenience, the domain names will be listed alphabetically and on the right-hand side you’ll see a padlock icon if the given domain supports the registrar lock option. If you click on the icon, you’ll find out if the particular domain is locked or not and you’ll be able to modify this status by clicking once more. The status will be updated instantly and you’ll be able to initiate the domain name transfer without the need to wait for the update to appear on WHOIS lookup sites or for our company to do anything on our end.
